Confirmation – An Important Journey
Confirmation is an intentional process in which an individual examines his or her faith in a deep way and makes new commitments to God and the church. Most often this process is undertaken by young people who have been baptized as infants. Through study, growth, and prayer they make a public profession of faith to take on for themselves the vows of faithful service to Christ made on their behalf at their baptism. Beginning in September, several of our youth will begin this journey. Confirmands commit to 18 weeks of in-depth classes, a retreat, and service projects. You will also see them participating in worship throughout the year. Some of you will be asked to be mentors and guides on this journey. All of you are asked to pray for these youth, to ask them about their journey, and to be role models and friends in the faith. Confirmation is an exciting time in the life of young people, their families, and the church.
